Setup guide
Set up Mollie Payments for HubSpot
Mollie Payments lets your team create Mollie payment links and recurring subscriptions straight from a HubSpot record, and sends the payment status, refunds and revenue back onto that record automatically. This guide walks you through installing the app, connecting HubSpot and Mollie, switching on the Mollie card, and using it day to day.
What Mollie Payments does
- Create a Mollie payment link from any deal, ticket, contact or company, with the amount, currency and VAT prefilled from the record.
- Sell recurring subscriptions: the customer authorizes once and Mollie collects every installment automatically.
- Payment status, amounts and refunds land back on the record as properties, native HubSpot payment records and timeline events.
- Subscriptions roll their status, amount, interval and next charge onto the deal, and the active-subscription count and monthly recurring revenue (MRR) onto the contact and company.
- Connect more than one Mollie profile and pick the right one per payment.
The app itself is free — you use your own Mollie account and Mollie's standard transaction fees, with no extra charge from us.
Before you start
- A HubSpot account, and a user with Super Admin permissions — you need admin rights to install the app and to switch the Mollie card on for your records.
- A Mollie account. If you don't have one yet you can create it during the connect step at mollie.com.
Step 1: Install from the HubSpot App Marketplace
In the HubSpot App Marketplace, search for Mollie Payments and open the listing. Click Install app and choose the HubSpot account you want to connect.
HubSpot then shows a permissions screen listing the access the app is requesting. Review it and click Connect app to approve. Granting these permissions is required — the app can't create payment links or write status back without them.
Step 2: Connect HubSpot
After installing you're taken to the app's connect screen. Read and accept the Data Processing Agreement, then click Sign in with HubSpot and choose the portal your records live in.
Step 3: Connect Mollie
Click Connect Mollie and sign in to your Mollie account to authorize the app. This is the account that collects the money and from which refunds are made.
Step 4: Choose which Mollie profile to use
A Mollie account can hold several website profiles. Pick the one payment links should be created on. Without a chosen profile the card on a record can't create anything. You can change this or add more profiles later on the app's settings page.
Step 5: Switch the Mollie card on for your records
HubSpot does not place the Mollie card on your records automatically — a user with admin rights has to switch it on once. Without this the card simply isn't there, however well everything else is connected.
- In HubSpot go to Settings → Integrations → Connected apps → Mollie.
- Open the App cards tab and click Manage locations.
- Tick every view the card should appear on — the default view and each team view, since teams start from HubSpot's own default and won't have it otherwise.
- Save. The Mollie card now shows on those records — deals, tickets, contacts and companies — in the right sidebar and as a tab at the top of the record.
Create a payment link
- Open any record in HubSpot — a deal, ticket, contact or company.
- Find the Mollie card in the right sidebar, or open its tab at the top.
- Click Create payment link. The amount and description are prefilled from the record; adjust them and add VAT if you need to.
- Copy the link and send it to your customer however you normally would — email, WhatsApp, or a quote. They pay through Mollie's checkout (iDEAL, cards and more).
Sell a recurring subscription
On the same card, choose Create subscription link, set the amount and interval, and share the link. The customer authorizes the recurring payment once, and Mollie then collects each installment automatically. You manage the subscription from the record — see the next charge, refund a single installment, or cancel the whole plan.
Automate with HubSpot Workflows
If you'd rather not create links by hand, use HubSpot Workflows: the app adds a custom workflow action that generates a Mollie payment link automatically when a record meets a trigger you choose.
Refunds
Refund straight from the Mollie card — a full or partial refund of a payment, and even a single subscription installment. The refund status updates automatically on the record, so HubSpot and Mollie stay in sync.
What lands back in HubSpot
Every payment created shows on the record's Mollie card, and its status updates as the payment is generated, paid, cancelled, failed or refunded. Alongside the card, the app writes:
- record properties for the payment amount and status;
- a native HubSpot payment record for each paid payment;
- a timeline event when a link is created and when it is paid;
- for subscriptions, the status, amount, interval and next charge on the deal, plus the active-subscription count and MRR on the associated contact and company.
Disconnect a HubSpot or Mollie account
You can disconnect at any time from the app's dashboard. Disconnecting HubSpot or Mollie stops the integration and removes the stored connection (the OAuth tokens and portal link) from our systems. Payment records already written to HubSpot, and payments already collected by Mollie, are not affected.
Uninstall and what happens to your data
To remove the app entirely, in HubSpot go to Settings → Integrations → Connected apps → Mollie, open the Actions menu and choose Uninstall. Uninstalling revokes the app's access to your portal and removes its card, workflow action and the properties it manages.
When you disconnect or uninstall, we delete the related OAuth tokens, portal link and payment-link records from our systems. Payment records that were already written to HubSpot, and any money already collected through Mollie, stay in HubSpot and Mollie respectively. The app never stores your customers' card or bank details — those are handled entirely by Mollie. See the Data Processing Agreement for the full detail on what we process and how long we keep it.
